The Illinois Neurological Institute (INI) MDA Clinic is here to help adults and children suffering with a variety of nerve and muscular diseases. Their services are vast and their team consists of physicians, nurses, physical, occupational, respiratory and speech therapists, registered dieticians as well as orthotic, wheelchair and equipment specialists.
Beyond top-notch personal, the clinic offers evaluation testing and follow-up all in one visit. Diagnosis and treatment recommendations are made by your team, giving you the best options for medical management of your condition.
Most people think of muscular dystrophy as one disease, this is not true. Muscular dystrophy is actually a group of hereditary muscular disorders. They vary greatly in the ages they affect, the muscles they affect and how fast they progress.
At the INI MDA Clinic we treat:
- Muscular Dystrophies
- Motor Neuron diseases (ALS)
- Inflammatory Myopathies
- Disease of Neuromuscular Junction (myasthenic syndromes)
- Specific hereditary neuropathies
- Metabolic disease of the muscle
The MDA Clinic is held at the Randolph Building in Peoria on the first and third Tuesday of every month. To participate, you must have a written recommendation from a physician which identifies you as a patient having one of the neuromuscular diseases covered by the Association's medical services program. If the disease diagnosed is not covered by the MDA, appropriate referrals will be made to the health agency covering the specific illness or community agency. Neurologic care can still be provided at the Illinois Neurological Institute.
