HALO SleepSacks

Baby in HALO SleepSackHALO SleepSack The OSF St. Joseph Auxiliary donates a HALO® SleepSack® to every infant born at OSF HeathCare St. Joseph Medical Center.

The HALO SleepSack doubles as a swaddle and a blanket. The HALO SleepSack wearable blanket is superior to loose blankets that can cover a baby’s face and interfere with breathing.

The HALO® SleepSack® was developed by a parent who lost an infant to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

SIDS is the unexpected death of an infant, one month to one year old, where the cause of death remains undetermined after an autopsy and death scene investigation.

Safe practices such as swaddling an infant can help prevent SIDS. Swaddling also helps newborns sleep easier by immobilizing their arms preventing Moro, the startle reflex.
