Visitors may use the parking lot outside of the Birthing Center (across from Eastland Mall) and enter through the Birthing Center Entrance (Entrance D) between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. These are the same hours used for discharging. We have specially reserved parking spots for our new families in this lot; the pink parking spaces are reserved for new parents and grandparents. If your visitors prefer, they can park at the Main Entrance (Entrance A) and use our complimentary valet service.
Visiting hours for the Birthing Center are 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. OSF St. Joseph Medical Center has reception desks, staffed by our volunteers, at both Entrance A and Entrance D. We welcome visitors to stop by these desks; our volunteers are happy to escort them to the Birthing Center.
After Hours Visitations
Our staff must approve visiting after hours to ensure the safety of all patients; please discuss this with your nurse. For the privacy, safety, and consideration of all of our patients, we may need to limit the number of visitors after hours. To help with this process, we ask that your visitors wait at home to hear the news from you that your baby has arrived. After the initial two hours following birth, we encourage visitors to be with you as you wish.
If you deliver outside of regular visiting hours, your visitors will need to check in at the hospital Security Desk, located at the Emergency Department (near Entrance A). They will be given a visitors badge and escorted to the Birthing Center. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times and are not allowed to spend the night in the Birthing Center. If a security escort is not available, your visitors should proceed to the Birthing Center, ring the doorbell, and our night shift staff will escort them to your room or our waiting areas.
If you are overwhelmed with the number of visitors you have, please talk to your nurse.
