Cardiac rehabilitation was developed to provide exercise, education, and counseling to patients needing support and encouragement toward a more active, healthy lifestyle.
Who Is It For?
Patients who have heart disease such as heart failure, coronary artery stenting, or heart surgery.
What Does it Involve?
It involves a gradual start of low-level activities or exercises under the supervision of the cardiac rehabilitation staff. It consists of three, one-hour exercise sessions per week. Heart rate, rhythm, and blood pressure are monitored at each session. The program offers a variety of exercise equipment and educational materials are offered to help the patient and family learn about nutrition, medications, stress, and heart care.
