OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center Named Top Scoring Hospital in Rockford for Patient Safety

4/30/2020 - Rockford, Illinois

Widely acknowledged as one of the most prestigious distinctions a hospital can receive in the U.S., the Top Hospital recognition showcases OSF HealthCare’s commitment to patient safety and quality. OSF Saint Anthony, based in Rockford, received a ‘B’ grade, the highest grade received by a Rockford hospital. An additional seven OSF HealthCare facilities also achieved an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade.

“We are pleased but not surprised at these high ratings,” said Hospital President Paula Carynski. “Providing the highest level of care has always been our focus. Our teams are pushing higher on safety and quality standards and collaborating together to continue to keep getting these high scores. We are proud of our Mission Partners and honored to be recognized this way.

“OSF HealthCare is blessed with some of the best health care professionals in the country, and the Leapfrog Top Hospital Award is a testimony to that,” said Carol Friesen, chief executive officer, Northern Region, OSF HealthCare. “It’s important to have access to high-quality, close-to-home care that is among the best in the country and OSF has that in the Northern Region.”

The selection of Top Hospitals is based on the results of the 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care, and a hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology. Critical access hospitals, such as OSF Saint Paul Medical Center in Mendota, are not included in the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. To see the results, visit Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.
