Dr. Jake Ruff said joining OSF HealthCare provided him the opportunity to give back to the Peoria community where he grew up.
“I love the pride in which the people of Peoria have in their city and the hard working people of the Central Illinois area,” Dr. Ruff said.
He entered the medical field because his father is a doctor as are the parents of several of his friends. “I always wanted a career where I could make a difference in someone’s life each day, and medicine is the first career that came to mind,” he said.
Podiatry was his chosen field, again, because of his father, Dr. John Ruff. “He showed me the wonderful diversity in which podiatry can be practiced – ranging from routine foot care to more complex limb reconstruction,” he said. “I was also drawn by the close-knit community of podiatry.”
Dr. Ruff’s patient-centered, evidence-based, team approach to treating his patients allows him to really listen to their concerns, and then together, reach a conclusion on what the best treatment options would be for them.
When not working, Dr. Ruff enjoys many types of exercise and sports as well as woodworking, photography and napping. He is married to Tory and they have a 5-month-old, Regan, and a dog, Buster.
