Connections 117: Percentage of Palliative Care Consultations

We are putting together the 2012 Annual Report for OSF Supportive Care which will be completed in early February. When it is, I’ll share a link to it with all of you. In the meantime, I thought you would find it interesting to get a sneak preview of some of the information we have compiled for that report.

This week, I’m sharing how much the OSF Supportive Care programs have grown during the past three years regarding the percentage of our adult inpatients who had palliative care consultations.

The national standard that the Center to Advance Palliative Care would like hospitals and health systems to attain is 5 percent. We have made great progress toward that mark and we expect to meet or surpass it during the 2013 fiscal year.
