Using Social Media in Supportive Care

Using social media in supportive care allows for spread of best practices more rapidly than traditional means, and allows for engagement of patients, families, caregivers, and clinicians with the information and with each other. I

have been able to connect with other palliative care team members regularly, and even without having physically met them, I consider them my friends because of the sharing we have been able to do.

One of the keys of improving care for patients is making sure they are aware of their options, and how to express their values and opinions, and helping them relate those to their care plan.

In that light, I was happy to be part of the recent Twitter Chat about advance care planning and supportive care. I hope the information provided was helpful.
