Employers Expand Benefits With Virtual Urgent Care

We’re leveraging tools, technology and decades of experience to transform today’s health care landscape.

Technology is transforming every aspect of our lives, and health care is no exception. OSF HealthCare has long been on the cutting edge of health care innovation. We embrace change and take on the hardest challenges, leveraging technological and scientific advances to care for all. We never stop working to improve the lives of those we serve.

Today’s patients demand greater access and control of their health care. Providers seek to overcome geographic and resource limitations. Employers want to improve their employees’ health and productivity, while keeping costs under control. Digital health enables all these outcomes… and more.

Digital health provides better ways to deliver, access and manage care. Rooted in more than a century of health care experience, OSF OnCall Digital Health is delivering results for patients, providers and employers alike. It’s more than a vision of the future. It’s happening today.

Who we are

For over 145 years, OSF HealthCare has kept our Mission strong: to serve others with the greatest care and love. Our faith-based healthcare system is comprised of 15 hospitals across Illinois and Michigan, more than 45 health care locations, and over 150 primary care and specialist offices encompassing neuroscience, pediatric, cardiovascular and much more. Guiding values drive our Mission Partners in all that we do: justice, compassion, integrity, teamwork, employee well-being, supportive work environment, trust, stewardship and leadership. As the world of health care evolves, we are leading at the forefront of technology and innovation.

Part of OSF HealthCare, OSF OnCall is a digital health entity that leverages tools, technologies and decades of experience to transform today's health care landscape. Our virtual "hospital without walls" provides our patients and business partners with what they need to navigate their health and wellness journey — wherever they are. We have built the clinical team to provide a personalized experience across the entire continuum, placing patients at the center of care.

What we do

OSF OnCall uses digital tools and platforms to improve health care delivery and extend health care access to the entire population. We offer providers new opportunities to expand their capabilities without significant infrastructure or staffing investments. Patients benefit from convenient and flexible access to more care options, while employers can control rising costs and improve workplace productivity.

Digital health intertwines physical and virtual access as part of the same health care journey: Same care, same providers, connected through technology. It leverages an expanded resource pool to fill gaps in patient care more cost-effectively. That means high-quality care is always available and more accessible.

The OSF OnCall suite of digital health offerings includes:

  • Urgent Care – virtual care and walk-in options make it easy to get medical advice and care for minor illnesses and health conditions, 24/7/365. Virtual visits allow patients to connect face-to-face with a provider or walk through an online interview at their own pace, receiving a treatment plan and prescriptions, if necessary, for a wide range of conditions.
  • Intensive Care combines expert medical staff, digital technology and predictive analytics for 24/7/365 remote critical care support. Our team monitors vital signs, test results, medications, X-rays and more, looking for abnormal laboratory values and physiological trends to identify critical issues proactively, so evaluation and treatment can happen more quickly.
  • Hospitalists – providing high-quality inpatient care remotely, with board-certified physicians available from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and options for daytime staffing. Virtual hospitalists manage patient communication, order placement, transfers and other routine tasks — so the on-site team can focus on the most pressing issues at hand.
  • Remote Patient Monitoring – 24/7/365 remote management for chronic conditions like asthma, COPD, diabetes, heart failure and hypertension. Changes in health status can be identified and tracked in real time, allowing timely interventions for clinical conditions that might otherwise lead to rapid health deterioration.
  • Nurse Triage – on-demand access to high-quality nurse triage using national evidence-based practice protocols and guidelines, 24/7/365. Our team of registered nurses offers around-the-clock guidance for people seeking care advice, next steps in symptom management or emergency services, ensuring patients receive the care they need when they need it.
  • Physician Office Answering Service handles phone calls in the evenings, overnight and on weekends, including holidays. We collaborate with physician offices so patients always have options to connect, even after hours. Services are customized to office-specific protocols, so the overall experience is seamless for the patient.
