Start Working, But Never Stop Learning

One of the things surgical acute nurse Jennifer Girard loves about OSF HealthCare is the clinical ladder program – an opportunity for the bedside nurse to build a professional portfolio through leadership and projects.

“It’s a personal growth portfolio,” said Jennifer, who works at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Ill. “It’s a good way for nurses to display their certifications, volunteer work, work projects, and all things related to the field of nursing they are doing to improve themselves and their environment.”

Never Stop Learning

Nurse EducationContinual learning and improvement are important to OSF HealthCare. The nursing staff is encouraged to pursue their desire to learn. From tuition reimbursements to course reviews at a discounted rate, OSF HealthCare works with employees, commonly referred to as Mission Partners, to strengthen their ability to serve patients.

OSF HealthCare doesn’t just encourage nurses to continue their education – the Ministry helps make it financially possible to do so. Hospice nurse Jennifer Wilson recently earned her bachelor of science in nursing while working at OSF Home Care Services in Galesburg, Ill.

“OSF HealthCare assisted me financially with this professional growth, and I feel this was a nice thing for them to support,” she said. “I recently completed the first six months of my Master of Science in Nursing as well and am planning on continuing my education until this is completed. OSF HealthCare supports nurses to further their education, and I think this is a wonderful benefit.”

We Support You

The OSF HealthCare culture includes strong encouragement to grow as a professional and support for educational endeavors to better serve patients. Not only does OSF HealthCare provide financial support in the classroom, it offers superior on-the-job education. On-site training occurs at medical center locations and the state-of-the-art Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center in Peoria, Ill.

“I came to OSF HealthCare looking for a challenging acute care facility that would offer a community-based and hometown friendly approach,” said Katie Pennington, general surgery nurse at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, Ill. “I have developed greatly as a nurse because the hospital allowed me to pursue personal areas of interest, professional growth and recognition within partnering national organizations.”

OSF HealthCare values nurses and their passion to serve those in need. When you work at OSF HealthCare, OSF HealthCare works with you to achieve your goals.
