Help Bring Radiation Oncology to the Upper Peninsula

Donate to Cancer Care

Every patient with cancer deserves access to lifesaving treatment. Your support can bring advanced radiation oncology services to OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group, reducing the burden of travel and expanding access for patients across the Upper Peninsula.

Mission and Commitment to Cancer Care

For more than 30 years, OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group has partnered with Green Bay Oncology to bring high-quality oncology care to the Upper Peninsula. That commitment grew even stronger with the opening of the OSF Daniel J. Kobasic Cancer Care Clinic, which expanded access to medical oncology and cancer services.

Growing our radiation oncology services is the next step in that commitment, building on a strong foundation to offer more complete cancer treatment close to the communities we serve.

The Unmet Need: Radiation Oncology Access Gap

While patients can receive medical oncology services locally, radiation therapy is not currently available at OSF St. Francis Hospital or elsewhere in the surrounding region.

Instead, many patients travel to Marquette, Iron Mountain or northern Wisconsin for treatment. Because radiation therapy is often delivered five days a week for several weeks, that can mean spending two to four or more hours on the road every day while undergoing cancer treatment.

For some patients, especially during Upper Peninsula winters, the travel becomes an overwhelming burden. Some even decline potentially life-saving radiation therapy because of the distance.

Together, we have an opportunity to change that.

The Vision: What Will Be Built

Your support will help create a dedicated radiation oncology center connected to OSF St. Francis Hospital, allowing patients to receive advanced cancer treatment without leaving their community.

The new addition includes plans for:

  • A linear accelerator to deliver advanced radiation therapy
  • A CT simulator for more precise treatment planning
  • A separate, dedicated entrance
  • Patient exam rooms
  • Private changing rooms
  • Comfortable and modern waiting areas
  • Dedicated clinical and care team spaces

Designed with patients and families in mind, the new center will help us provide compassionate, high-quality care in a healing environment that keeps loved ones close throughout treatment.
