Nursing

At OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center, nursing is at the heart of the care experience. Our nurses combine clinical expertise with compassion, working closely with patients, families and care teams to deliver safe, high-quality care at every stage of the journey.

Through a strong culture of collaboration, professional growth and shared decision-making, our nursing team helps drive better outcomes and a more supportive experience for every patient we serve.

Magnet Recognition Logo

OSF Saint Anthony is the only hospital in the region to achieve Magnet designation five times and the first in Rockford to earn this recognition in 2005, with redesignations in 2009, 2014, 2020 and 2025. We consistently demonstrate strong outcomes in patient experience and quality, supported by nurses who are empowered to play an active role in care decisions.

What is the Magnet Recognition Program?

The Magnet Recognition Program is both nationally and internationally accepted as the gold standard of patient care, recognizing excellence and professionalism in nursing. It is a prestigious honor earned by fewer than 10% of hospitals nationwide.

Magnet recognized facilities undergo a rigorous evaluation process, including written documentation, extensive interviews and an on-site review of nursing services.

Research shows that Magnet-recognized hospitals are more effective at attracting and keeping quality nurses. Magnet recognition is renewed every four years, during which time the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) monitors each facility closely to ensure it maintains high standards of care and Magnet Recognition Program requirements.

About the American Nurses Credentialing Center

The ANCC is the world's largest and most prestigious nurse credentialing organization, and a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association. The ANCC Commission on Magnet recognizes less than 5% of hospitals in the United States for excellence in nursing.
