The John & Melissa Besse Emergency Department at OSF St. Francis is staffed 24 hours a day with specially trained physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and emergency medical technicians.
All of our nurses are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Many are also trained in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Trauma Nurses Core Curriculum (TNCC).
More than 18,000 people come to the Emergency Department each year for care. No one is turned away, regardless of ability to pay.
The OSF St. Francis Emergency Department also serves as Medical Control for Delta County, responsible for overseeing all of the ambulance services in the area.
Patients who may need to be transferred to another facility may choose ground or air ambulance services.
Ground transportation is provided through Rampart EMS.
Air ambulance services are provided by Valley Med Flight. Valley Med Flight is owned by Utah-based Air Medical Resource Group, the fourth largest air medical provider in the nation.
