Pediatric Rehabilitation

When your child needs extra support to grow, move or communicate, you want care that feels personal, encouraging and grounded in expertise. At OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois, our pediatric rehabilitation program is here to help your child reach their full potential. Through comprehensive pediatric rehabilitation services, we support your child’s development while giving you the guidance and confidence you need along the way.

What is pediatric rehabilitation?

Pediatric rehabilitation helps your child build the skills they need for daily life. Your child works with therapists who specialize in children’s rehabilitation and understand how kids learn, play and grow. Whether your child needs support with mobility, communication, feeding or sensory processing, pediatric therapy services are designed to help them gain independence and confidence through each stage of development.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your child’s first visit is focused on getting to know your child’s abilities, challenges and goals. You’ll meet one on one with a pediatric-trained therapist who will listen to your concerns, review your child’s history and complete gentle, age-appropriate assessments. Together, you’ll create a care plan that fits your child’s needs, daily routines and future goals.

Because rehab for kids often involves multiple needs, you’ll also benefit from a team that communicates with your child’s referring provider and works together to make sure every step of therapy supports your child’s progress.

Meet Your Care Team

Your child’s care team includes pediatric occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech-language pathologists who are specially trained to treat children from infancy through young adulthood. They know how to motivate kids, adapt therapy to their unique personalities and make progress fun and achievable.

If your child needs more than one service, their therapists collaborate closely with their other care teams so your child receives fully coordinated, comprehensive care.
