Podiatry Residency Program – Peoria
Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with a credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery (PMSR/RRA) at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center provides comprehensive surgical and clinical training in a high-volume, multidisciplinary environment.

Clinical and Surgical Training
The PMSR/RRA program at OSF Saint Francis provides a structured, experience-driven approach to podiatric training. The program supports six residents and awards a certificate upon successful completion.
Surgical Experience
You will receive training in a wide range of procedures, including:
- Rearfoot and ankle reconstruction
- Charcot reconstruction
- Foot and ankle trauma
- Arthroscopy
- Limb salvage

Residency Rotations
Residents gain experience managing consultations, inpatient care and surgical cases with increasing autonomy over time. In your post-graduate years (PGY), you can expect:
PGY-1 Rotation
- Anesthesiology

Call Responsibilities
Residents on call are responsible for inpatients, new consults and all on-call cases.
- PGY-1: Scheduled for approximately 13 weeks of call during the first academic year.
- PGY-2: Scheduled for approximately nine weeks of call during the academic year.
- PGY-3: Scheduled for approximately four weeks of call during the final academic year.
Academic Curriculum
To support learning beyond the clinical setting, residents have protected academic time every Wednesday afternoon. This dedicated educational experience includes:

Clerkship Experience
Each month, two third- or fourth-year podiatry students participate in a clerkship experience. Students engage in inpatient and outpatient care, attend academic sessions and complete a case or journal presentation.
Community Outreach
Residents participate in community clinics such as Pathway Ministries and Friendship House providing care to underserved populations. These experiences allow for greater autonomy and broaden your clinical exposure.
