Volunteer Services
Volunteering can be one of the most rewarding ways to spend your time. And at OSF HealthCare Saint Clare Medical Center, volunteers are an essential part of the care we provide for our patients.
Our volunteers come from many backgrounds, but they have one thing in common: They love to help others. They contribute their time and talents in a variety of ways, which is vitally important to the service of patients, their families and our hospital.
Volunteer opportunities
North Lobby and Main Entrance Desks
- Greet and welcome patients and visitors as they arrive
- Assist patients who need wheelchairs and transport them to their destination
- Provide patients and visitors with directions to provider offices and hospital departments
- Assist Mission Partners with mailings and other light clerical duties
Registration Desk

Ensure patients check in before taking a seat in the registration area

Monitor wait times to ensure patients are not waiting longer than necessary
Transporters
- Escort patients to their destination within OSF Saint Clare
- Escort discharged patients by wheelchair to the entrance where they will be picked up by their loved ones
- Make deliveries between departments
- Assist Mission Partners with mailings and other light clerical duties
The Corner Nook Gift Shop
- Run daily operations
- Provide excellent service by greeting and visiting with customers
- Operate the cash register and credit card machine
- Assist with light cleaning
All volunteers can choose from a variety of hours and days to work and can also enjoy a free meal during their shift in the Park Avenue Café. Volunteers in The Corner Nook Gift Shop are also eligible for 20% off purchases in the gift shop.
