To ensure the health of all our patients and staff, tours will only be offered for mom and her support person. Everyone must wear a mask, and we will screen for temperature and symptoms on arrival.
Parenting and Birthing Classes
We offer a variety of online and in-person classes to help you and your family prepare for your little one's arrival.
Nurse Navigators
Our free OB Nurse Navigator Program is the only one in Bloomington-Normal. It delivers a unique level of care and attention beginning at 20 weeks of pregnancy – or at whatever point you need the support – to well after you’ve gone home.
The nurse navigator acts as a personal guide and helps expectant moms feel confident and comfortable before the big day arrives.
Lactation Consultation
We have three board-certified lactation consultants, three certified lactation counselors and all of our staff have taken 20 hours of initial breastfeeding training, in addition to ongoing education.
Choosing to breastfeed can be one of the most important decisions a mother makes to protect their baby's health and well-being. We offer early education, breastfeeding classes and in-person assistance. We also offer information on breast pump basics like how they work and where to get one through private insurance, rentals or public aid.

- Outpatient - in-person appointment with someone from our lactation team
- Phone - call any time, day or night, and someone from our lactation or birthing team will answer your questions
- Telelactation - an innovative technology that allows you to video conference with a lactation consultant from the comfort of your home

Neonatology Services
OSF St. Joseph offers around the clock neonatology care by experienced neonatology experts from OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria.
These specialists provide the highest level of expertise around-the-clock for all of our newborns, and will do so throughout your newborn’s stay in our Birthing Center. This added level of expert care allows babies who may have been transferred to OSF Children’s Hospital in the past to remain right here close to home in the nursery at OSF St. Joseph.
Your pediatrician will begin seeing your baby following their discharge from the hospital.
If your baby needs to be transferred to OSF Children’s Hospital, you can take comfort as a parent knowing they will receive consistent and high-quality care right here close to home in central Illinois – no need to travel to Chicago or St. Louis.

Patients can receive the same state-of-the-art care from OSF Children’s Hospital doctors they’ve come to trust, closer to home with our outpatient clinics in Bloomington. Our outpatient clinics feature cardiology, surgery, urology, gastroenterology and maternal fetal medicine.
Baby Photos
We offer Bella Baby Photography to take a variety of photos of your family and new baby. We encourage you to use our online photo service to privately release those first precious glimpses to family and friends. A password protected custom slideshow will be available to you for 14 days after the photo are taken. With your consent, the photographer will also post the photos online.
