Gardens of Hope

Gardens of Hope are community gardens where people gather to grow healthy food. Community gardens, such as the Gardens of Hope, provide numerous benefits, including:

  • Promoting healthy eating through education and access to healthy, nutritious food
  • Providing opportunities for physical activity by working in the garden
  • Inspiring the community to connect through volunteering and education
  • Beautifying the neighborhood and improving well-being

Gardens of Hope provide safe places for family, friends and neighbors to gather to be active, to learn and access healthy foods. The fruits, vegetables and herbs harvested from the gardens are shared with the community.

What is a Faith Community Nurse?

The OSF Faith Community Nursing program is a unique partnership between two healing entities – our hospitals and the faith community. Faith Community nurses partner with clergy and health care organizations to advocate for the health and well-being of church congregations. The program focuses on preventative health care, showing members how to lead healthier lives through education, screenings and referrals to community resources.
