Research: Evaluating the impact of immunosuppressive therapy on diabetes in kidney and heart transplant patients

Interests outside the pharmacy I enjoy spending time with family and friends, golfing and playing cards. I also love baking!

Why OSF?: I chose OSF due to the wide array of opportunities as well as the people who work here. Everyone at OSF is extremely dedicated to providing learners like me with the best resources and opportunities to thrive as a pharmacist.

Practice Areas of Interest: Infectious Disease and Critical Care

Research: The Effect of an Insulin Basal-Bolus Order Set Update on Insulin Prescribing Practices in General Internal Medicine Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Interests outside of pharmacy: I enjoy hiking, golf, pickleball, watching football, and playing board games with friends and family.

Why OSF?: I chose OSF because of its diverse learning opportunities and patient populations including neuro ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, and pediatrics. I was also drawn to the unique pharmacy practice staffing weeks between rotations. Our pharmacy staff is very supportive and are truly dedicated to providing individualized experiences for each resident. And I can’t forget about the free food and parking!


Maiya Sanderson, PharmD

Interests outside the pharmacy: Outside of work, I enjoy traveling with my friends, spending time with my goldendoodle, Tito, and attending concerts and festivals.

Why OSF?: I was attracted to OSF for several reasons: the intimate size of the resident class within a large hospital setting, the strong sense of community I felt across mission partners right from the start, and the unique opportunity to gain experience with both pediatric and adult patient populations.

Research: Impact of Pharmacist Presence in the Emergency Department (Pharm-PED)

Interests outside the pharmacy: I love relaxing with my doggos, crafting, traveling, and napping.

Why OSF?: OSF Saint Francis is a large academic medical center which fosters interdisciplinary collaboration Children's Hospital of Illinois provides care for high acuity patients with our Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Level IV NICU, and pediatric emergency department. Preceptors and Mission Partners are incredibly supportive and invested in the residents' success.
