Why Choose Us?

Fast, Efficient and Compassionate Care

Upon arrival to the emergency department, a registered triage nurse will determine the severity of your condition and expedite your care.

During your stay, our team will expertly manage your pain, keep you and your loved ones informed and ensure your safety, security and privacy.

We also partner with the OSF Community Resource Center to arrange follow-up referrals, transportation, medication assistance and other basic needs.

Nationally Accredited Chest Pain Center

OSF Heart of Mary is full accredited by the American College of Cardiology for our speed and expertise in caring for patients with heart-attack symptoms.

Our proven protocols reduce the time to treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack. We consistently out-perform the national average on our ‘door to balloon’ time or the time from the emergency department to the cardiac catheterization lab for emergent treatment

The goal is to have our interventional cardiologist open a blocked coronary artery using angioplasty before damage is done.

Primary Stroke Center

OSF Heart of Mary has been certified by The Joint Commission for providing rapid-response stroke care that significantly improves outcomes. As soon as symptoms start, our team of experts is ready to treat stroke in its earliest - and most critical - stages.

In fact, our door-to-CT time to diagnose stroke averages less than 10 minutes, and our door-to-medication time to break up clots averages less than 60 minutes.

Emergency Fracture Care

Our emergency staff has advanced training in orthopedic care, providing diagnostic imaging and stabilization of fractures and other injuries affecting the bones, joints, muscles and ligaments.

Specialized Emergency Care for Children

We’re proud to be Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) by the Illinois Department of Public Health. That means we have the processes, technology and expertise to treat all childhood emergencies.

And, our physicians and nursing staff complete additional education and training each year, to ensure we continually provide the highest level of care for our most precious patients.

Financial Assistance

OSF HealthCare has always provided care to patients regardless of their ability to pay.

If you need emergency services but lack the means to pay, please ask about our financial assistance program,  uninsured discount policy and other options that may be available to you.
