OSF Saint Anthony's Health Center Implementing Visitor Restrictions

Jun 15, 2020 - Mar 31, 2020 - To protect patients, family members and staff during this time of increased seasonal flu activity and the spread of COVID-19, we are asking the public not to visit hospitalized patients.

To protect the health and safety of patients, visitors, and Mission Partners (employees), OSF HealthCare facilities in Alton and Godfrey will implement a strict no visitor policy effective April 1, 2020, with a few exceptions:

  • One visitor will be allowed for pediatric patients
  • One visitor will be allowed for childbirth
  • One visitor will be allowed for patients with behavioral health, developmental delays or altered mental status for whom a caregiver is necessary for their care or safety
  • Exceptions will be made for end-of-life situations
  • Other exceptions will be made in consultation with leadership

We have activated a screening process for all visitors and vendors that enter our facilities. Visitors that fall under the above visitor exceptions will be screened at the Main Entrance for signs of respiratory illness.

In addition to self-reporting, Mission Partners are now being screened by their Supervisors. All Mission Partners are expected to self-monitor for symptoms before coming to work by taking their temperature. Once they have arrived for their shift, Supervisors will initiate a second round of screening to ensure they are feeling well.

All patients are not being screened at the door, but ARE being screened at the department to which they are going to for their procedure or visit. They are asked all of the relevant screening questions to ensure that they are healthy.

“Quality and safety is our number one priority,” says OSF Saint Anthony’s Health Center President Ajay Pathak. “We feel these safety measures are aligned with our Mission and the CDC recommendations, and we thank our communities for their understanding.”

If you have questions about coronavirus (COVID-19), please visit the OSF HealthCare website.
