Support for Patients Who Don't Have COVID-19
Requirements
All support persons must:
- Pass a health screening and temperature check each time they enter a facility.
- Be masked at all times.
- Follow physical distancing and hygience guidelines.
- Stay in the patient room and not go to other areas of the hospital or clinic.
Department | Number of Support Persons Allowed |

Adult Inpatient | One support person, either in person or digitally |
Emergency | One support person, either in person or digitally |
Outpatient and Medical Offices | One support person, either in person or digitally |
Surgery | One support person, either in person or digitally; this person is also the person responsible for driving the patient home. |
Pediatrics - All Settings | Up to two parents or guardians as support persons in person. |
Obstetrics and Labor & Delivery | One support person; they may also have one doula, midwife or birthing coach (certification required), who does not count as their support person. |
Clergy
Patients may receive visits from one clergy member or religious leader; this does not count as their support person.
End of Life
Patients who are at the end of life may be supported by up to four (4) support persons in the room at one time. Additional support persons may rotate.
Family members under age 16 are allowed with the consent of a guardian and permission of the health care team.
