Genetic Counseling
If you are concerned about your chances of developing cancer, especially if you have a history of cancer in your family, a consultation with our cancer professionals will help you understand your risk level and provide you with a personalized plan to lower your risk.
Contact us if:
- You are concerned about your chances of developing cancer, especially if you have a cancer history in your family
- You have a relative with a likely or known pathogenic variant in a cancer susceptibility gene (BRCA1, BRCA2, CHECK2, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6 and others)
- You have been diagnosed with breast, ovarian, colon, pancreatic or prostate cancers
How It Works
Simply fill out a questionnaire about your family cancer history and bring it to your first appointment, where our team will gather more information and create your pedigree or family tree.
We will discuss the significance of particular risk factors and the role genes may play as a cause of cancer in your family.
We will also evaluate whether genetic testing will help determine your chance of developing cancer.
A genetic blood test can even be ordered on the day of your first visit.
Genetic Testing
Researchers have identified genes that increase the risk of developing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, colon cancer, etc.
Combined with genetic counseling, genetic testing helps people with a strong family history of cancer determine their likelihood of developing cancer.
If you are eligible for genetic testing, we provide education and counseling to help you decide what is right for you.
