System Laboratory

Who We Are

The OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center Laboratory, as a College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified laboratory, services a number of hospitals, physician offices, nursing homes, and health clinics by offering a wide variety of diagnostic, pathology, and clinical testing services.  OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center Laboratory, a hospital-based entity, is owned and operated by OSF Saint Francis Medical Center,  a hospital certified by The Joint Commission (JC).

Approximately 300 laboratory employees staff our specialized departments that process over 300,000 reportable tests per month, field incoming inquiries on various topics, draw specimens, and provide support to physicians and 12 board-certified pathologists, 3 Pathologist Assistants, a PhD Biochemist, a PhD Cytogeneticist, and a board-certified Infectious Disease Physician/Microbiology Technical Consultant.  Our Courier Services department is based in the lab and offers Stat pick-ups, along with dedicated routes and times used to service our clients throughout Illinois.  We offer billing services and accept most of the major insurances.
