Behavioral Health CHOICES

Woman with Depression At OSF Saint Elizabeth, we offer a comprehensive behavioral health program geared toward the adult and senior population.  A combination of both inpatient and outpatient settings, our belief is that all persons deserve to be treated with compassion and respect.  Recovery is unique to each individual.

Our Team

As a patient, you may receive assistance from a number of caregivers including psychiatrists, counselors, social workers, therapists and nurses.  Your care team will offer a variety of services including diagnostic evaluation, disease and medication management, individual and group therapy, and case management based upon your unique plan for treatment.

About Inpatient Care

Inpatient care helps to stabilize individuals and prepare them for continued treatment in an outpatient setting. Patients must be at least 18 years of age, be medically stable, and have been accepted by a psychiatrist for treatment.  Additional criteria for admittance includes evidence of danger to self or others, self care deficits, and mental or emotional deterioration.

Our secure, 22-bed psychiatric unit is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is located on the hospital's third floor. To learn more about visiting a hospitalized patient, click here.

By creating an individualized plan based on patient needs and progress made during hospitalization, we're able to help reduce the likelihood of readmission. Special emphasis is placed upon:

  • Individual discharge planning
  • Reintegration into the community
  • Creating a smooth transition into outpatient care

About Outpatient Care

Outpatient Choices Building Outpatient care may be utilized as a stand-alone resource or as a transition from inpatient care.  Located in a beautiful, environmentally friendly building on the hospital campus, outpatient care is offered Monday through Friday and focuses on individualized, structured treatment.

In addition to fostering self-esteem and coping skills to improve relationships with families and peers, outpatient care focuses on targeted outcomes and helping patients to identify and achieve specific goals. Additional programs offering intensive treatment are available for patients with symptoms of depression or anxiety in need of short-term stabilization or immediate resolution of problem areas.

These individuals may be at risk for hospitalization or be transitioning from an inpatient stay.  Your behavioral health care team will help you to determine if you might benefit from our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
