Education & Training

From the Director's Desk

Dr. Neil Rushforth photo What YOU do matters.

On the fourth Monday of every month, the ED physicians, EMS, nursing leadership and hospital administration meet to discuss the trials and tribulations of the prior month in an ongoing effort to provide the best possible care to our patients.

As part of this meeting, we review the prior months ‘codes’. During this review, I am constantly reminded of how much what you do matters. Our successful resuscitations are typically YOUR successful resuscitations; either directly in the field or because of the critical decisions you made in the field.

The losses we take home with us I know are shouldered by each of you as well. There have been a number of tough losses this year, but know we are proud of the excellent care and compassion you have all demonstrated. Reviewing these cases renews my resolve each month to help facilitate the education, resources and support you all need to thrive.

To that end, we are happy to welcome Adam Welton into our new QA/EMS Educator position. We are looking forward to utilizing his expertise to develop a more robust QA process and improve our educational offerings with the goal of becoming an accredited EMS training program.

We have started to make the rounds to visit each of our agencies, so if you haven’t seen us yet, expect a visit in the near future.  We have gotten a ton of useful feedback and have already begun to institute changes based on this feedback.

This truly is your EMS system and we want it to work for you. Keep safe out there and remember: What you do matters!
