Pathways to Surgery
Weight loss surgery is a useful tool for weight loss. But, like all “tools”, it is useless if you don’t know how to use it! Join a small group of up to 10 people to learn the 5 Lifelong Habits for Surgical Success, and prepare for weight loss surgery. Groups are led by a registered dietitian.
This program is a 6-12 month commitment.
- Month 1: The group will meet once each week. You will weigh in at each meeting and track your eating and exercise habits. In these classes, you will learn about healthy eating and getting started with exercise.
- Months 2 through 6: The group will meet every other week. In these classes, you will learn about the lifestyle changes that you must make after weight loss surgery. These include changes to your diet, exercise, and preventing relapse.
- Months 7 through 12: By this time, your surgery may already be scheduled and you will not continue with classes. If you still have other steps to complete before surgery, and you lose at least 6-7 pounds in the first 6 months, then you can continue meeting with the group once each month until your surgery is scheduled.

Your schedule may not match ours. If you cannot attend a group class, check out the One-on-One Counseling option instead. These sessions are scheduled by appointment, and can be more flexible with your schedule.
