As a comprehensive congenitive heart center for infants, children and adults, we offer a broad range of innovative treatments and services, ranging from the most complex heart surgeries to support groups for patients and their families.
Each year, we receive more than 9,000 clinic visits – and our pediatric and congenital heart surgeons perform approximately 250 surgeries a year from newborns as young as a few hours old to adults with congenital heart disease.
Pediatrics & Congenital Heart Surgery
As the only pediatric and congenital heart surgery program in downstate Illinois, we specialize in providing a full spectrum of cardiothoracic surgical procedures for neonates, infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease.
Noninvasive Imaging
Our noninvasive cardiac imaging division provides incredibly detailed pictures of children’s hearts, allowing cardiologists and cardiac surgeons to precisely map out personalized treatment strategies designed around each individual.
Adult Congenital Heart Program
As one of the 20 largest adult congenital heart clinics in the U.S., we’re specially trained to provide the most innovative treatment of complex anatomy and heart function of adolescents and adults with congenital heart disease.
Interventional Cardiology
We provide a full spectrum of diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures for any pediatric or adult patient with congenital or structural forms of heart disease, including our state-of-the-art 3D rotational angiography and EchoNavigator.
Fetal Heart Program
For babies diagnosed with pre-birth congenital heart conditions, our team works closely with each child’s family and referring physician to plan individualized care and provide the most advanced cardiac care to support mother and child.
Electrophysiology
Our team is trained to treat and manage every type of pediatric and congenital arrhythmia in children and adults with congenital heart disease, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Extracorpreal Membrane Oxygenation
Since 2009, we’ve been an ELSO Center of Excellence for the use of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) in treating infants, children and adults in cardiac and/or respiratory failure.
Neurodevelopment Program
Our multidisciplinary team of providers perform comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluations for children of all ages to lay the ground work for future success.
Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Replacement (TPVR)
OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois is the first Illinois hospital outside of Chicago – and one of only 90 centers in the world – to offer this innovative approach to replace the pulmonary valve without requiring patients to undergo open-heart surgery.

The Congenital Heart Center doesn’t just provide treatment for our patients. We provide each patient’s family a variety of personalized services and support to fulfill our Mission of providing the greatest care and love for every patient – every family.
Congenital Heart Adolescent Transition Program (CHAT)
This specialized program helps patients get ready to manage their own health care as an adult. Our team works closely with you and your child to develop a personalized plan, giving your child the confidence to live their best life.
